Karen Korkie - Eastern Province
I grew up and went to school in the south of Johannesburg, before moving to Port Elizabeth. I have played sport all my life, having played netball, volleyball and action cricket. I started playing bowls for the Moths Bowling Club at the age of 35, after a shoulder injury ended my provincial action cricket career. My in-laws were both bowlers and they encouraged me to starts bowls. In my 3rd year of playing, I was selected for the EP Inter-District squad and played as Lead for the following two years in the “B” Inter-District side. Thereafter, I played for the “A” Inter-District side for the past 11 years. In 2014 I was selected to Skip one of the “A” sides for the first time, and we won Gold. I have since represented EP in the Inter-District Tournament as Skip.
